@Zahid_Hamidi slams Muhyiddin over remarks on PM's personal bank account
PUTRAJAYA: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has asked his predecessor Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to prove with evidence on his claim that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak had close to RM1 billion in his personal bank account.
He also slammed Muhyiddin for making baseless statements from hearsay.
"Ask him to produce the evidence if he has it. He accused our prime minister, so he must show the evidence.
"Don't make allegations based on hearsay," he said when asked to comment on a report that Muhyiddin claimed close to RM1 billion was already in the prime minister's personal bank account even before the widely reported RM2.6 billion controversy.
According to the report, Muhiyiddin said he learnt about the deposits prior to the purported Arab donation, from the then former attorney-general Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail.
Ahmad Zahid was speaking to reporters after a bilateral security cooperation meeting with his Thai counterpart General Prawit Wongsuwan, here, today.
On the recent Court of Appeal's decision on the Bersih 4 case, Ahmad Zahid, who is also Home Minister, said the court's decision should be respected.
The Court of Appeal had ruled that the home minister's order to ban the use of Bersih 4 yellow T-shirts and pamphlets related to the Bersih rally was unreasonable.
